Become Our Pastry Chef

 

 

Bread & Butter is an artisan bakery in Chattanooga specializing in sourdough breads, croissants, and scratch-made pastries. We've been here since 2016, and our pastry program is central to who we are.

We're looking for an experienced Pastry Chef ready to own and grow our pastry program — someone who leads with craft, mentors a small team, and brings both creativity and consistency to daily production. This is a working chef role. You'll be hands-on in the kitchen every day while also driving the vision for our pastry offerings.

What you'll do:

  • Own and lead the full pastry program — cookies, brownies, quiches, seasonal desserts, and more

  • Produce and oversee viennoiserie including croissants, danishes, and laminated doughs

  • Manage production schedules, prep lists, and inventory to support retail and wholesale demand

  • Train, mentor, and develop pastry team members

  • Drive seasonal menu development and new product creation

  • Maintain and uphold quality and consistency standards across all pastry items

  • Collaborate with bread and kitchen teams on special projects and seasonal offerings

What we're looking for:

  • 3–5+ years of commercial pastry experience — this is a senior role

  • Laminated dough and viennoiserie experience strongly preferred

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team

  • Creative, detail-oriented, and deeply proud of the work you put out

  • Reliable for early morning operations (typically 6–7am starts)

  • Comfortable owning a program in a small business environment where your decisions matter

What we offer:

  • $40,000–$50,000 salary based on experience
