The Role

Join our close-knit team of 15 passionate food artisans as our Pastry Chef! You'll lead our pastry program creating exceptional pastries, cookies, brownies, quiches, and seasonal desserts from scratch. In-person position in Chattanooga - hands-on artisan craft work

What You'll Do

  • Lead pastry production including cookies, brownies, quiches, and seasonal desserts from scratch

  • Produce viennoiserie (croissants, danishes) and laminated doughs (will train advanced techniques!)

  • Manage daily pastry operations and production schedules

  • Train and mentor pastry team members

  • Develop seasonal pastry offerings and creative menu items

  • Maintain our high standards for presentation and taste across all pastry items

  • Support our retail and wholesale operations with consistent daily production

  • Collaborate with our bread and kitchen teams on special projects

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualities:

  • 2-3+ years commercial pastry/baking experience required

  • Leadership experience or strong desire to develop management skills

  • Genuine appreciation for artisan food production and traditional techniques

  • Reliability and consistency for early morning operations

  • Pride in handcrafted work and attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement

  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative, small business environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Commercial kitchen pastry experience with cookies, brownies, basic pastries

  • Laminated dough experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person!

  • Experience training or mentoring junior team members

  • Understanding of ingredient quality and recipe development

  • Food safety certification or willingness to obtain

  • Comfortable with early morning start times (typically 6-7am starts)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience (significantly above entry-level)

  • Regular performance-based raises with skill development

  • Bakery stipend ($50/month full-time)

  • Monthly healthcare or retirement stipend for full-timers (35+ hours/week)

  • 10 vacation days & 3 sick days (after 3 months full-time employment)
